Blue Valley takes Game 1 big, fights for Game 2.

It looked like Blue Valley was going to run away with a doubleheader victory after a big game 1 win over Valley Heights 15-7.
The Rams opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two walks. Blue Valley first got on the board when Lincoln Schmitz drew a walk, scoring one run. Valley Heights made the score 3-2 in the top of the second after James Bohlken singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two more. Valley Heights added one run in the third after Jacob Vathauer grounded out to score a run.
Blue Valley tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Rawley Sump, and a ground out by Lee Taylor. Blue Valley's offense exploded in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 10-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Tennessee Hartman that drove in two.
Blue Valley would score more five runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Landon Sump was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Brayden Innes doubled, scoring two runs, and Lincoln Schmitz doubled, scoring two runs.
Brayden Innes earned the win for Blue Valley. The righty r allowed six hits and six runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking two. Mack Shanks took the loss for Valley Heights. The starter went 2 1/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on one hit, striking out six and walking three. Aeron Innes collected the save.
Blue Valley finished with nine hits in the game. Brayden Innes, Landon Sump, and Trace Sump each collected two hits.. Innes, Tennessee Hartman, and Lincoln Schmitz each drove in two runs.. Blue Valley had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Lincoln Schmitz, Aeron Innes, and Lee Taylor led the team with two bases on balls each.
Cayden Dummermuth and Gavin Crowder were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Valley Heights. Gavin Crowder, Jacob Vathauer, and James Bohlken each drove in one run for Valley Heights but the Mustangs just couldn't keep up with the hot bats of the Rams.

Game 2 was much more competitive Blue Valley took the game in 13-12 walk-off victory. The game was tied at 12 in the bottom of the seventh when Trace Sump singled, scoring the game winner.
Brayden Innes drove in four runners in the win. The 3-hole hitter went 4-5 on the day.
Valley Heights jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Gavin Crowder was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, and Dino Conti doubled, scoring one run.
The Rams biggest inning came in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Tennessee Hartman that drove in two.
But Valley Heights would answer back in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 12-10. Blue Valley jumped into the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Brayden Innes doubled, scoring two runs, and Trace Sump singled, scoring one run.
Aeron Innes earned the win for Blue Valley . The starter allowed one hit and three runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Landon Sump pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief for the Rams. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and four runs (zero earned) while, striking out five and walking one. Cayden Dummermuth took the loss for Valley Heights. The starter went four innings, surrendering nine runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out five and walking five.
Blue Valley piled up 13 hits in the game. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, with eight walks for the game.
Valley Heights' 11 hits as a team were spearheaded by Jacob Vathauer in the middle of the lineup, and led Valley Heights with three runs batted in while Charlie Warders, Hudson Nemechek, and Dino Conti each collected two hits for Valley Heights.
It was a great day to be a Blue Valley Ram but the way these games turned out the Mustang boys have nothing to hang their heads about.
