Axtell offense accounts for nearly 500 yards on way to a 30 point victory over Reno County

If there were any questions about whether the Axtell offense was going to slow down early season, Eric Detweiler's Eagles answered that in a big way as they would manage to hang a 74 point on Reno County on Friday night.
Quarterback Wyatt Detweiler threw for over 250 yards and 5 touchdowns, 4 of those going to talented wideout Bill Lybarger who finished with 159 yards. Clayton Heinen and Joe Lybarger also accounted for a TD to go with his 7 carries and 100 yards with 2 TD scores.
It was the 3rd quarter where the scoreboard really lit up with both teams totaling 76 points in that quarter alone. Credit the 1-2 punch of Bo and Colt Smith for earning 283 yards but the Axtell would keep RC out of the end zone on multiple drives, intercepting 3 total passes and sacking the quarterback twice, both of those coming from Cade Johnson.
Axtell starts the 2026 season with a win and face league foe Clifton-Clyde on the road Friday night in what is sure to be an instant classic.
