Valley Heights can't overcome 5 turnovers. Fall to Sacred Heart 40-11.

There have been, and will be going forward, better nights for the Valley Heights football team as they started the 2026 season with a 40-11 loss to a talented Salina-Sacred Heart team.

Aiden Unruh put together 110 yards on the ground for the Mustangs as he looks to be the primary back once again this season for Valley Heights. Unruh's longest rush in this game came on a 50 yard scamper. Freshman Quarterback Dayton Turner was unable to complete a pass but he did score the only touchdown on the night for Valley Heights, a 6 yard run late in the contest.

Defensively, the Mustangs played well with Dino Conti leading the way. Conti had 4 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery as the Senior continues to give offensive skill players nightmares just as he has his entire career at Valley Heights and keep your eye out for Sophomore Brady Anderson who led the team in tackles with 5 of his own. Certainly, defense was the bright spot for the Mustangs in this game.

Next week, Valley Heights is at home against league foe Doniphan West. D-West fell to Onaga in week 1 in a hard fought 24-20 game.
