The Centralia Panthers entered this year's Twin Valley League tournament knowing they had the opportunity to make some waves if they could get off on the right foot against their opening round opponent, Onaga.
The Panthers opened the game on a 15-0 run and ultimately pushed it to a 16-point lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to a strong first quarter defensively with many stolen passes and deflections.
Once the second quarter it was Junior Quentin Alderfer who took over for Centralia with a school record 10 three pointers made on his way to 32 points to propel his team to a 69-43 win. Bronx Talley and Isaac Reinecke tacked on to the trey ball barrage as well as they finished with 13 points apiece.
Onaga's Casen Hutfles to keep his team within striking distance with 14 points including a pair of and 1's in the first half. Keagan Venneberg added 8, all of those coming in the 2nd half.
In the end, the Buffalo offense was able to score the ball effectively, but when an opponent is shooting lights out it's tough to hold on.
Centralia advances to Monday's action taking on Axtell. While Onaga will play Frankfort on Friday. Frankfort fell in an overtime contest to Washington County.
