An Instant Classic Softball Doubleheader as D-West and Blue Valley Split.

For fans of pure and exciting softball the doubleheader between Doniphan West and Blue Valley was the place to be. It came down to the wire, as Blue Valley grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over Doniphan West in Game 1. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when Isabel Wright singled, scoring the game winner


The Lady Rams were the first to get on the board in the first when Brenna Gibson drew a walk, scoring one run.

Blue Valley added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Lydia Dumler singled, scoring one run, Brenna Gibson had 2 run double, and an error brought another Ram across

D-West recaptured the lead 6-5, in the top of the seventh after Jaidyn Smith doubled to center field, Brennah Edie hit a sacrifice, and Blue Valley committed an error, each scoring one run.

Blue Valley took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Bryleigh Brockman doubled to the right side of the infield, and Isabel Wright singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring one run.

Brenna Gibson earned the win for Blue Valley. Gibson allowed 11 hits and six runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking none. Clara Feighner took the loss for Doniphan West. Feighner went six and two-thirds innings, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits, striking out 13 and walking three.

Blue Valley earned 10 hits in the game. Brenna Gibson's two RBIs led Blue Valley The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Kelbi Dettmer, Lydia Dumler, Isabel Wright, and Brenna Gibson each collected two hits for the Lady Rams

Doniphan West piled up 11 hits in the game. Brennah Edie provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Doniphan West Varsity Mustangs with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Jaidyn Smith, Brooklyn Rawles, H’Leigha Idol, and Clara Feighner each collected two hits for Doniphan West but the Lady Mustangs would come up just short.


In game 2, Doniphan West answered back defeating Blue Valley 13-3 after a 7 run 4th inning

D-West opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks with two triples. Doniphan West first got on the board when H’Leigha Idol tripled, scoring one run.

Doniphan West extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Clara Feighner and Delainee Waggoner.

The Lady Mustangs scored seven runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. RBI singles by Brennah Edie, Brooklyn Rawles and Lydia Keebler as well as a Brooklyn Denton double each scored one run, Jaidyn Smith drew a walk, scoring one run.


Clara Feighner earned the win for Doniphan West. The hurler gave up seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking two. Lydia Dumler took the loss for Blue Valley. The starter went four innings, giving up 11 runs on 13 hits, striking out four and walking four.

Offensively Dumler led Blue Valley with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Brenna Gibson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Blue Valley in hits.

As a team, Doniphan West accumulated 16 hits in the game., lead by Brennah Edie's 4-4 game. Brooklyn Denton, Clara Feighner, and Ella Haynes each drove in two runs for Doniphan West. Delainee Waggoner, Brooklyn Rawles, and H’Leigha Idol each collected multiple hits for Doniphan West.
