Battle of Lady Mustangs Provide Spark in TVL Season

When 2 of the top teams in the TVL meet up you know the action would be top notch. So, when the battle Doniphan West and Valley Heights softball got going, we knew we were in for a classic
In game one, it was Valley Heights taking the 4-2 win despite being outhit nine to three. Brooklyn Denton, Brennah Edie, H’Leigha Idol, and Ella Haynes each collected two hits for D-West
Doniphan West was the first to get on the board in the first when Brennah Edie doubled, scoring one run.
Tessa Bigham grounded into a fielder's choice, which helped Valley Heights tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.
A steal of home by Paige Miller gave Valley Heights the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.
Miller earned the win for her team. She allowed nine hits but only two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three. Clara Feighner took the loss for Doniphan West. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking three.
Brennah Edie and H’Leigha Idol each drove in one run for Doniphan West. Jaidyn Smith and Brennah Edie each stole 2 bases for Doniphan West.
Lindsay Gray led Valley Heights with a pair of RBI. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Krista Porter, Lindsay Gray, and Paige Miller each collected one hit for Valley Heights.
In game 2, Brennah Edie went 4 for 5 at the plate, as Doniphan West defeated Valley Heights 11-6. Edie tripled in the seventh inning, tripled in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the first inning.
Doniphan West broke the ice in the first inning after Clara Feighner hit an RBI single.
They would extend the lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Brooklyn Rawles and Jaidyn Smith and again in the 3rd with RBI singles by Lydia Keebler and Brooklyn Denton
Clara Feighner earned the win for Doniphan West the right-hander gave up eight hits and six runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking three. Paige Miller took the loss for Valley Heights. Miller went seven innings, giving up 11 runs (six earned) on 16 hits, striking out four and walking one.
Doniphan West had an amazing 16 hits in the game. H’Leigha Idol drove the middle of the lineup, leading D-West with two RBI. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-5 on the day. Jaidyn Smith, Brooklyn Rawles, Brooklyn Denton, and Ella Haynes each collected multiple hits for Doniphan West. Ella Haynes stole two bases as stole four bags in the game.
Leadoff hitter Lindsay Gray led Valley Heights with three hits in five at bats and Stella Martin earned two RBI despite only going 1-for-4. Tessa Miller stole two bases of the five stolen bases for the game.
