Defense rules the day as Valley Heights shuts out D-West

Going into Friday night's game against Valley Heights, if you would have told the Doniphan West coaches they would hold their opponents to just two yards passing, they would have I'd bet they would have liked their chances.

Fortunately for Heights, this one was controlled by their running game and namely Aiden Unruh. Unruh finished with 120 yards and 2 touchdowns, the longest from 69 to open the scoring of a hard fought 13-0 Valley Heights win.

The Sophomore pairing of Trace Caudle and Braylon Shelton were able to put together terrific drives by the Valley Heights defense were able to stall multiple drives holding the opposition to just 5 for 22 on 3rd and 4th down standing strong on multiple occasions.

With the win, Valley Heights goes to 1-1, they will take on Republic County in Week 3. Doniphan West falls to 0-2 they will face 0-2 Centralia on Friday night. The Panthers lost to Jeff West 27-0 in week 2.
