The 2 seed Linn Lady Bulldogs opened up TVL tournament play taking on the 7 seed Clifton-Clyde who had defeated Washington County by 30 points to advance to this.
Only a 3 point lead for Linn at halftime, up 25-22. Both teams knew this game was not even close to over. It was Izzy Rogge leading scoring for the Lady Bulldogs with 8 with Sevy at 12 for Clifton-Clyde.
It was the 3rd quarter where both teams erupted Baileigh Peters netted 13 of her team high 21 right after the half as she became the go-to offensive threat in this one. Meanwhile, Wurtz casually dropped 17 in the 3rd period alone hitting from nearly every area of the court. It'll be no surprise to tell you that she was once again the leader on offense for Clifton-Clyde but it's how near record nights Wurtz now is, with 35 points against Linn she now has as 1607 career points. Needs 21 to break the school record. Unless teams really figure out some way to stop her, it's safe to say that record could be broken in this week's tournament or in Clifton Clyde's first game after against Canton-Galva. We'll definitely keep an eye on that over the next week or so.
Linn held an 11 point advantage going into the 4th quarter, Rogge wrapped up her night with an and one to give her 14, while Ella Oehmke reached double digits with 12 all of those coming behind the arc.
Next up for Linn is a Friday matchup against Axtell. Meanwhile, Clifton-Clyde will have another unique challenge on their hands facing Valley Heights on Friday as well
