The new Kansas Basketball Coaches (KBCA) polls were released on Tuesday with many ups and downs.
In 2A, Valley Heights fell to Riley County by 9 to drop the Lady Mustangs just one spot after picking up a win against league foe Axtell 41-37. Valley Heights has an opportunity to earn statement wins with games against Nemaha Central and Centralia scheduled this week.
Meanwhile, Doniphan West went 2-0 last week with a win in the final seconds against Riverside 51-50 and an absolute throttling of ACCHS. D-West looks to keep it rolling against two very talented teams, tonight against 2-2 Horton Lady Chargers and on Friday against the 3-2 Troy Lady Trojans
In 1A Division I, the Centralia girls had an up and down week. On Tuesday, the Lady Panthers beat up on St. Mary's 65-19. On Friday, despite a terrific effort to stay with the 2nd ranked team 3A, Silver Lake, the Eagles would take the 11-point victory. The consequences of those results weren't two severe for Centralia dropping just one spot from number 2 to number 3. The Lady Panthers next take the court Friday against Valley Heights
Clifton-Clyde holds solid at number 10 in this week's polls with wins against Centre and Chase County. The Lady Eagles continue their non-league tilt with matchups at St. John's Beloit tonight and hosting Bishop Seabury on Friday
Finally, in 1A Division II, the Hanover Lady Wildcats stay the top team in the state after defeating Nemaha Central by 10. Hanover did suffer their first loss of the year as they were edged out by Thayer Central on the road in Hebron, Nebraska.
The Lady Wildcats play on Friday on their home court against Washington County
Just as we saw with Centralia, the KBCA recognized that despite Friday's loss to Division I's top team Little River, the Linn girls had been winning well including a dissection of Goessell on the Blue Birds home tournament 50-16.
Tonight, Linn travels to Solomon to take on the 0-4 Lady Grizzlies who are coming off of a 30 point loss to Washington County Friday evening.
